Cross-training by building a strong foundation is key to staying injury-free and improving our running efficiency. Here is a quick strength workout you can integrate a couple of times a week:
Workout Details:
• Sets & Reps: 2 sets × 12 reps per exercise (or 12–15 second holds for planks)
• Rest: 1 minute rest between sets
Exercise Routine:
1 Step-Ups (2 sets × 12 reps per leg) – Builds single-leg power, glute strength, and running stability.
2 Bodyweight Squats (2 sets × 12 reps) – Strengthens quads and hamstrings to support joint health over long distances.
3 Dips (2 sets × 12 reps) – Strengthens the upper body to help maintain good running posture as fatigue sets in.
4 3-Direction Planks (2 sets × 12–15 second hold each: Front, Right Side, Left Side) – Targets the entire core and obliques for stability on the road.
Give this routine a try between running days to stay strong and balanced. Let us know if you have any questions or need modifications! Stay tuned for next week's strength workout.
